New Product Capable of Both Py-GC and Evolved Gas Analysis
The JHP-2200 is a newly developed system that allows not only conventional pyrolysis-GC analysis, but also previously difficult analyses such as evolved gas and reaction product analysis, simply by switching the built-in valves.
Pyrolysis and Thermal Extraction under Various Gas Atmospheres
In typical pyrolysis-GC analysis, the sample is thermally decomposed under the GC carrier gas atmosphere. However, the JHP-2200 enables the introduction of pyrolysis or thermal extraction gases into the GC under a variety of gas atmospheres by using a switching valve.
Sealed Pyrolysis and Thermal Extraction
By using a switching valve, the sample tube can be isolated from the carrier gas flow to create a sealed environment. In this sealed state, the sample can be heated. The sealed condition inside the sample tube can be maintained for any desired period until the valve is switched. This method has been well received as an effective technique for reaction analysis.
Chromatogram 1 - Evolved Gas Analysis at Elevated Temperature The sample, wrapped in Pyrofoil (F590), was placed in the system and subjected to a 15-minute extraction under the Evaporation Position. After the extraction, the valve was switched to the Analysis Position, and the evolved gases were introduced into the GC. This chromatogram shows the result, with several peaks likely corresponding to additives contained in the sample.
Chromatogram 2 - Pyrolysis-GC Analysis After Evolved Gas Extraction The same sample used in the previous extraction analysis was then directly analyzed by Curie-point pyrolysis-GC without removal. This chromatogram displays the thermal decomposition products obtained after the evolved gas analysis.
